US 1-0 Brazil: Ten Years On. Keller's masterpiece

Sunday marked the tenth anniversary of the US’ lone victory over Brazil. The match in Los Angeles was sparsely attended with under 13,000 at the Coliseum. Unlike the next several US-Brazil games on American soil (2001 in LA, 2003 in Miami, and 2007 in Chicago, the later two games I attended) the number of American fans pulling for Brazil in the crowd was minimal and the US performance reflected a desire to win a Continental Championship- the Gold Cup. Nonetheless, Br

Premier League Leaving Fans and Football in the Cold

I must say that in twenty some odd years of following football or soccer as we call it here in the U.S. I have never been so angry and offended by a single decision as by the Premier League’s announcement to add a 39th round of matches on foreign soil beginning in 2011.

This decision is so offensive and so wrong I am not even sure where to begin. The idea of a domestic league simply exporting its product and playing competitive matches in the middle of its sea

Bought a 4 game pack to the NE Revs yesterday. Will comment on RB v Revs, Chi v Revs, LA v Revs, and Chivas v Revs as well as all Red Bull games home. Again I know I keep bitching about being shy, but if I can help in any way let me know. Love the show and the blogs. Keep it up and I hope England and India were enjoyable. My email is bebopcowboyy@aol.com if you want to ask me anything off the boards.

Will probally go to the Independiente match out of all of them. This is more about money then actually being competitve but last year they lost 2-1 to Cruz Azul. Should be a packed house for all three games.

Kartik I am back online!
Just bought and am living from my truck and travel trailer all around New England. Just couldn't handle another effing year in a hotel! So glad to get my Laptop air card and get back to viewing the b game. Can't wait for the friendly @ Giant Stadium despite what you say about the national team in the posts of the past week or so.
Hope all is well and I will give you the usual post Thursday NY RB match update from the eyes of a golf course builder with bad knees from soccer persons point of view!

It's not that Donovan isn't playing in Eurpoe, I think he would be one of those who could do it and do well over there. He is wasting his talent in MLS, he should be playing in a higher standard of league, he has the god given talent.

I agree that in that pathetic performance that the US was missing Donovan. If he would just show heart and desire to match his talent he would be awesome, thats my biggest beef with him as you know.

I'm not a yank hater as you know bur Donvan is a talented guy with no heart and thus my problem. He has the talent to be something better but he isnt and he doesnt play for the shirt as often as he should. If he would show heart and do something other then play in MLS instead of Europe where he can play I would gain respect for him.

Kartik you are the man! I bought that ridiculously cheap MLSlive (compared to my annual setanta broadband) and can watch all of the games I missed all season. I am starting with the season opener today!

If you ever get in a jam with material for the show I will help you in any way I can. I don't have that much free time and I am no expert, but let me know if I can be of help.

Hey Kartik two questions:

How can I watch MLS via broadband?
How can I watch WC qualifiers via broadband?

I took off three hours to run back to the hotel and catch the Champions League final. I then have to run back to work for a few hours and catch up before dark!

Thanks for the offer Kartik. A part of me wants to say yes and come on the show, but I am afterall a bit shy. Perhaps in time I will loosen up a bit, but for the time being I better decline.

Did they show those two drunken idiots that ran onto the field after the equalizer for RB on match coverage? These two guys run on from the offensive zone corner flag, hug the players, jump back over the wall and dodge the security for three minutes before being dragged down the exit. I was taken aback, but I have to admit there is nothing funnier than watching fat old guys slip around on the wet ground while chasing a drunk young idiot. Serious, but I smile even as I type this. The one guy held them at bay whilst still holding his beer!

RB were extremely suceptable to the through ball and set piece last night. Boyers while good on the set piece doesn't have the pace to stick with attackers. KC went near post on every corner including the goal. KC bossed the midfield because they played through it, whereas RB left any advancing midfielder alone to beat the ball up field to the forwards. Dave Van Den Berg MVP in my mind and bossed the whole game until he and Osorio were Red Carded seemingly for dissent, which if you check the most recent US Soccer podcasts, "referee review" is going to happen more frequently. Second half addition of Borman on left was great. He is young, pacey, and doesn't shy away from running at defenders. He can cut wide and cross or cut middle and attack as he did on his goal. Be safe in your travels Kartik!

Thinking about traveling to NE for the game against the Red Bulls on the 18th of June. It might prove to be difficult, but I have never been to another park for an MLS venue and would like to go. These fans are respectible from what I know, but perhaps I won't wear any RB colors. Any recommendations or thoughts on my travels?
